Heritage Foods

Folklore
Level 2 Destination Singapore Beach Road 700 Beach Road, Singapore 199598
tel: 6679-2900
The year end is always a good time to take stock, and there’s no better way to do this than to feast on grub that connects taste with tradition – like heritage foods. Folklore serves up an eclectic mix, comprising five cuisines unique to Singapore’s culture: Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan and European. Savour the taste of tradition such as singgang, a long-lost Eurasian dish of wolf herring, de-boned and cooked in a non-spicy paste; and hati babi bungkus, a Peranakan dish cooked during ancestor offerings. Or go for babi assam, Peranakan chap chye, sambal buah keluak fried rice, as well as desserts such as kueh kosui and double-boiled white fungus with papaya.

Gastronomy At Sea

Cap off the year with a series of unique culinary experiences on the high seas – “Taste the Dream: Wine and Dine at Sea” on board the ships of Dream Cruises. From now until January 2020, this culinary extravaganza will feature menus by two acclaimed celebrity chefs, Darren McGrady and Ivan Li, who have designed an immersive gastronomic experience at sea, including wine-pairing tasting menus, enrichment talks and interactive workshops. There will also be opportunities to attend thematic performances and activities, such as a Peking opera, a British garden tea party, fascinator-making workshop, and a tribute concert to The Beatles, among others.
